Amid weakening global coffee demand, coffee bean prices at the farm level have remained stable. As of early January, coffee bean prices were in the range of IDR 60,000 to IDR 62,000 per kilogram, depending on the quality of the harvest. This stable price is a breath of fresh air for Kerinci coffee farmers, who have traditionally relied on market fluctuations for their income. Mulyadi, a coffee trader, stated that although international demand has decreased, the impact has not been significantly felt at the farm level. “There has indeed been a decrease in international demand, which has depressed global coffee prices. But in Kerinci, prices at the farm level are still stable,” Mulyadi said on Tuesday (January 6, 2025). According to him, the quality of Kerinci coffee beans, known for their distinctive flavor, is one of the main factors maintaining price stability. Furthermore, the supply of coffee beans at the farm level is currently within reasonable limits, thus not depressing selling prices. However, Mulyadi warned that this situation could change in the near future. He predicted that coffee bean prices would likely decline as the harvest season approaches in several global coffee-producing countries. “When the harvest season arrives, especially in major countries like Brazil, Vietnam, Colombia, and Indonesia, supply usually increases, affecting prices,” he said. Amidst global market uncertainty, Kerinci coffee farmers are expected to continue maintaining the quality of their harvest to remain competitive in both domestic and international markets. Quality is considered key to maintaining demand for Kerinci coffee, despite changing market dynamics. source: https://rri.co.id/index.php/sungaipenuh/daerah/2089008/harga-biji-kopi-di-kerinci-masih-stabil
